Introduction

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of SoulStory (“the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms.

1. Use of the App

SoulStory is a personal journaling application designed to help you record, organize, and reflect on your thoughts, experiences, moods, photos, and personal notes.

You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.

You must be old enough to use the App under the laws of your country, and in any case at least 13 years old.

Your use of the App is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how information is handled.

2. Your Journal Content

You retain ownership of the content you create and store in the App, including your journal entries, photos, notes, and other personal content.

The App is designed to store your journal data locally on your device. We do not receive your content and do not claim any rights in it.

You are responsible for the content you create and for keeping your device secure, including by using your device’s lock screen and, if you wish, the App’s own app lock.

3. Data Loss and Backups

We do not guarantee that your journal data will always be available or recoverable.

Data may be lost due to device damage, loss, operating-system issues, application errors, accidental deletion, device reset, or uninstalling the App.

The App lets you create backups as a file or, optionally, in your own Google Drive. You are responsible for creating and securely storing your own backups.

If you protect a backup with a password, we cannot recover or reset that password, and the backup cannot be restored without it. Keep your passwords safe.

Restoring a backup replaces the journal currently on your device with the contents of the backup. Make sure you want to do this before you confirm.

Google Drive backups are stored in your Google account, count toward your Google storage, and are subject to Google’s terms. To save space, the App keeps only the five most recent Drive backups and removes older ones.

4. Sharing Content

The App may allow you to share journal content with other applications or services.

You are responsible for the content you choose to share and for how third-party services handle that content.

5. Mood Insights and Wellness Features

Any mood tracking, statistics, insights, quotes, or reflective features provided by the App are intended for personal reflection and informational purposes only.

The App does not provide medical, psychological, or mental-health advice and should not be used as a substitute for professional advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

If you are in crisis or think you may harm yourself or others, contact your local emergency services or a crisis support line right away.

6. Reminders and Notifications

The App can send you reminders to write in your journal. Reminders are scheduled on your device and delivered by your device’s operating system.

We do not guarantee that a reminder will arrive on time, or at all. Delivery depends on your device settings, such as notification permission, battery optimization and do-not-disturb modes.

7. Advertisements and Third-Party Services

The App may display advertisements provided by third-party services such as Google Mobile Ads (AdMob).

The App may also use other third-party services, such as Google services for the optional Drive backup feature and for downloading fonts.

Third-party services may have their own terms and privacy policies. Your use of such services may be subject to those policies.

8. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, branding, software, graphics, features, and other original materials, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, or commercially exploit the App except where permitted by applicable law.

9. Disclaimer

The App is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee that the App will always be available, error-free, or completely secure.

To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranties, express or implied, about the App, including about its fitness for a particular purpose.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for loss of journal data or for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages resulting from your use of, or inability to use, the App.

Nothing in these Terms limits any right or liability that cannot be limited under the laws that apply to you, including consumer-protection rights where you live.

11. Ending Your Use

You can stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. Uninstalling removes the data stored on your device, so create a backup first if you want to keep it.

We may suspend or discontinue the App, or any feature of it, at any time.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where the consumer-protection laws of your country of residence require otherwise.

13. Changes to the App and These Terms

We may modify, update, suspend, or discontinue features of the App at any time.

We may also update these Terms from time to time. The updated Terms will be made available through the App or our website, and the “Last updated” date above will change. By continuing to use the App after an update, you agree to the updated Terms.
